Espanola, NM
The Rio Grande SUN, the best hard news weekly newspaper in New Mexico, needs a reporter who wants to cover county government and the plethora of politics that drives it. As an appetizer follow a county commissioner who was handed a $50K school "marketing" contract, then hired one of the school board members to be the County's HR director. For a main course chase another commissioner as he paves his driveway coincidentally at the same time the county paves the road in front of his house. Dessert is the state attorney general investigating the many funky contract bids and awards and prosecuting the former commissioner. Great stories are thrown at you weekly. Not for weak-willed or feature writers. Please check our web site and Google Espanola and Rio Arriba County before applying. This is a tough beat to cover in an area marred by drug abuse and a failed education system. But if you like to write news, it's Nirvana. We routinely punch above our weight. Salary, vacation, sick, benefits, profit sharing. Please e-mail resume to Robert Trapp. Job Type: Full-time Pay: $22,000.00 - $25,000.00 per year Benefits:
