Extraordinary science writing is thoughtful, critical, and well-tailored for its intended audience. Longer pieces provide depth and complexity to our understanding of cutting-edge scientific topics. This category of award honors all kinds of science writing over 500 words.
We will accept work that is new and work that was published in 2019.
All submissions should incorporate a single-page cover letter that includes the following information:
Submissions open January 15, and close at midnight on Feb 15. Finalists in each award category will be highlighted on the homepage with brief author biographies. Winning submissions in this category will receive a $500 honorarium.
